Poststructuralism got its start in a convoluted sort of way. In the s and '60s, radical new work in linguistics was inspiring a whole slew of French thinkers to re-imagine their own disciplines. Psychoanalysis and philosophy started to go through major upheavals, and their little buddies lit studies and sociology didn't want to be left on. The Routledge Studies in Education, Neoliberalism, and Marxism series features books by new as well as established scholars that throw a harsh spotlight on the conditions under which education currently labors and offers analysis, hope, and resistance in the name of more collective, egalitarian education for social and for economic justice.

deconstruction, in linguistics, philosophy, and literary theory, the exposure and undermining of the metaphysical assumptions involved in systematic attempts to ground knowledge, especially in academic disciplines such as structuralism and term "deconstruction" was coined by French philosopher Jacques Derrida in the s. In general, deconstruction is a philosophy of meaning. "Neoliberalism", sometimes called "market fundamentalism", i.e. the policy of non-intervention by the state in the economy, has been the dominant ideology of the bourgeoisie for close to three decades, involving widespread privatisation and all the other policies that go with it. The present economic meltdown, however, is forcing governments to intervene, regulate, and even nationalise firms Author: Mick Brooks.

Contemporary theorizations of neoliberalism are framed by a false dichotomy between, on the one hand, studies influenced by Foucault in emphasizing neoliberalism as a form of governmentality, and on the other hand, inquiries influenced by Marx in foregrounding neoliberalism as a hegemonic : Simon Springer.
